About Michael
Michael Reddington, CFI is a conversation strategist and Certified Forensic Interviewer. Organizations partner with Michael when they need a resource to teach their leaders how to author the approaches, recognize the critical observations, and ask the compelling questions that generate breakthroughs in their high value conversations.
Michael has been committed to the practice of encouraging reluctant people to tell the truth for over 20 years. As the President of InQuasive, Inc., Michael leads a group focused on equipping senior leaders, negotiators, and sales professionals with the specific strategies and techniques required to obtain the intelligence they’ve been missing.
Prior to founding InQuasive, Michael spent a decade working for Wicklander-Zulawski and Associates (WZ). During his time with WZ Michael ran their investigations division, travelled the globe teaching investigators how to elicit the truth with rapport-based techniques, and earned the Outstanding Contribution Award from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He still serves on the board of advisors for the International Association of Interviewers.
Michael started his professional journey as a special education teacher before launching his investigative and executive education career.
At home Michael treasures the time he has with his wife and son. He also enjoys coaching youth sports, training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and disappearing on long motorcycle rides.

How does Michael Reddington Customize his engagements?
One of the primary objectives of every engagement is to ensure the session content resonates with the audience at a level that generates the confidence necessary to immediately apply what they’ve learned. To achieve this goal Michael invests the time necessary to apply his lessons to the context each audience operates in. This includes integrating their verbiage, referencing real examples, recognizing their operating environments, answering their questions during the engagement, and sharing specific solutions to the communication challenges they’re experiencing.
What is the Disciplined Listening Method?
The Disciplined Listening Method represents the culmination of years of research, investigative interviewing experience, and business communication execution. The goal of the Disciplined Listening Method is to uncover hidden value during high-impact conversations. The methodology integrates strategic preparation, emotional intelligence, situational awareness, influence and persuasion techniques, practical observation approaches, and advanced questioning methods. Applying the methodology requires leaders to clarify their desired outcomes, reset their perspective, recognize the context of the situation, encourage their counterparts to save face, and engage strategically.
How is Disciplined Listening different from Active Listening?
Whereas Active Listening typically focuses on ensuring your counterpart believes you are listening to them, Disciplined Listening is a strategic and outcome-oriented approach designed to maximize intelligence gathering and influential impact within the context of high-value conversations.
Who benefits from the Disciplined Listening Method?
The quality of our decisions can be directly traced back to the quality of the questions we ask and observations we make. Applying the Disciplined Listening Method benefits professional communicators who are committed to developing strong relationships, solving problems, solidifying agreements, and obtaining the truth – faster. Senior executives, leaders, managers, business development professionals, HR professionals, negotiators, teachers, coaches, investigators, fundraising professionals, and more have benefitted from applying The Disciplined Listening Method in their roles.
How do non-confrontational interrogation techniques apply to business conversations?
When outcomes are critical, maintaining relationships is important, and the truth is paramount leaders should employ conversational approaches designed to achieve every objective. Non-confrontational (rapport based) interrogation techniques are designed to encourage people to share sensitive information, under vulnerable circumstances, and in the face of consequences. This is the same challenge every leader, sales professional, interviewer, parent, and teacher encounter every day. Integrating these techniques into your high-value business and personal conversations opens new pathways to creating commitment and not coercing compliance.
